Advisor

Research in the Rando laboratory concerns the basic biology of stem-cell-altered functioning in degenerative diseases and during aging. With the use of heterochronic parabiosis, his ground-breaking work from his laboratory showed that age-related changes in stem cell function can be reversed by a youthful environmental.

Rando has received awards such as the NIH Director's Pioneer Award, and he is also an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
